Confirmation Information

Wednesday, April 22 (4:00 PM) at Peace: 8th-Grade Review Day. This is a "dress rehearsal" where we bring all the students together to build confidence for the following week.
Wednesday, April 29 (6:00 PM): Public Examination.
Wednesday, April 29 (Immediately following Exam): Pictures. Since there is no time for photos on Sunday morning, we'll take their official pictures once we're done grilling them!
Sunday, May 3 (2nd Service): Confirmation Service.

Click the Study Guide button to download the study sheet of questions I typically ask during the examination. While it may look like a lot of material, remember that the students have been learning these concepts for the last two years! There's 2 versions in the same document- the first set of questions without answers, and then those same questions with the answers included.
I will be at Mt. Olive practicing with many of our confirmands during their regular class time as we get closer, in order to help them feel comfortable. At home, I recommend having them go over just a few questions each night; they’ll have no trouble at all.
-
I highly encourage you to invite your child’s Sponsors, Godparents, or Witnesses to the service on May 3. Confirmation is deeply tied to Baptism. During the rite, both parents and sponsors will stand to reaffirm the promises made at your child’s baptism.
-
Gowns: These will be ready for pickup the week before the examination. Please take them home to be ironed and bring them back for pictures on April 29. After pictures, they will stay at the church until the service on Sunday.
Corsages: These have already been ordered, and there is no cost to families.

As is the tradition here at Peace, confirmands get to choose their own verse. I’ve attached a list of suggestions. If they find a verse not on the list, just run it by me first—we want to make sure it’s appropriate for the occasion (and avoid any "bears attacking teenagers" or "fleeing naked" passages like 2nd Kings 2:23-24 or Mark 14:51–52). Click the Confirmation Verse Options button for some verse ideas.

Please fill out the form by clicking the Google Form button so we can finalize logistics. I’ll need your student’s rough height for robe sizing, their T-shirt size (for a free shirt from Bethany!), and their chosen verse. If the verse isn't decided yet, just write "TBD."
